Tosca D'Aquino What The Cyclone Is About
An Italian comedy set in a Tuscan village. Levante is an accountant. He lives in his father's house with his sister and his grandfather. His life is orderly and dull; everyone in the village knows everyone and nothing happens. One day a bus arrives. Inside is a flamenco troupe from Spain; they have come to the wrong address and have nowhere to stay. Levante takes them in. After that the house is in disorder. The dancers rehearse in the yard, the grandfather is bewildered, the sister is uncomfortable and the village drowns in gossip. Levante falls in love with Caterina, one of the dancers. She will leave in a few days and for the first time he thinks about changing his life. The humour is local: the reactions of the villagers, arguments inside the family and the patterns of provincial life. Leonardo Pieraccioni wrote, directed and starred. The film was an unexpected success in Italy and became one of the most watched domestic productions of its time; it opened the way for similar films in the years after. Lorena Forteza and Barbara Enrichi are in the cast. An enjoyable choice for anyone who likes light Italian comedy and provincial stories. For a viewer expecting depth, the film runs on a simple construction and wants nothing more.
