What The Doctor Takes a Wife Is About
June Cameron has written a best selling book. Its argument is that a woman does not need a man to be fulfilled. At a hotel she runs into Timothy Sterling. Sterling teaches at a medical school. She asks him for a lift to New York. They do not get on at all on the way. At a stop a sign is pinned to the back of his car. The sign says they are just married. It is a mistake, and it spreads. Both of them decide to make use of it, since she can now write a book about marriage and he is handed the professorship he had been waiting for. So they agree to appear married, with a divorce planned once the book is done. Keeping it up is not easy for two people who cannot stand each other. Loretta Young and Ray Milland appear in the eighty eight minute film, an American production Alexander Hall finished in 1940.
