What The Elephant in the Living Room Is About
The documentary looks at the keeping of exotic animals in the suburbs of the United States: from lion cubs to venomous snakes, some of the most dangerous species in the world are held in houses, garages and back gardens. The film builds that world around two men, one a police officer whose job is to collect such animals and the other a man genuinely attached to his lion, and their meeting moves the subject away from an argument about bans and towards the story of the people involved. Tim Harrison and Terry Brumfield are at the front of Michael Webber’s ninety six minute production. It was completed in 2010 and shows how trapped both the animals and their owners are.
