The Expedition to the End of the World

The documentary follows a sea voyage. The journey was made in the summer of 2011. A three masted schooner was used. The course runs to northeastern Greenland. The region is among the blank places on the map. Artists and scientists are aboard. There is no set programme. Each of them goes about their own work. The geologist collects stones. The biologist looks for new species. When they go ashore they find traces left from the stone age. The danger of polar bears is never far off. The artists take in the landscape in their own ways. The glaciers are melting fast. The talk turns to the climate. The place of human beings in nature is argued over. The film does not let go of its humour. Daniel Dencik directed the ninety minute documentary. It is a Danish, Greenlandic and Swedish production finished in 2013.
