What The Fall Is About
The documentary is about two runners. One is Zola Budd. She was born in South Africa and ran barefoot. Her country was under a sporting boycott because of apartheid. As a teenager she was given British nationality. That way she could take part in the Olympics. The other runner is Mary Decker. She had been known in America since she was young. The two of them met at the Los Angeles Olympics of 1984. The race was the women’s three thousand metres. During it they made contact and Decker went down. That moment was talked about for years. The documentary brings the two of them together again. Zola Budd and Mary Decker appear in the ninety minute documentary, a British production Daniel Gordon finished in 2016.
