What The Fastest Gun Alive Is About
George Temple looks like an ordinary man who keeps a shop, and he knows that nobody alive is faster with a gun. So he and his wife have spent years moving from town to town, because wherever the reputation reaches, somebody arrives wanting to test it. One night, drunk, he lets it out again. The town swears to keep it quiet, but a boy tells the story and it reaches a gang of wanted men, whose leader says he will burn the town down unless Temple meets him. Russell Rouse turns a western into a study of pressure and dread. Glenn Ford leads, and Russ Tamblyn's dance number in the middle is one of the film's surprises.
