What The Frenchman Is About
The year is 1957. The French student Pierre Durand arrives in Moscow for an internship. He will spend a year at Moscow State University. There he meets the ballerina Kira Galkina and the photographer Valera Uspenskiy. Through them he gets past the official face of the city. He comes to know the underground of its cultural life. The year passes very differently from the life he is used to. But Pierre has another piece of business in Moscow. He is looking for his father: Tatishchev, an officer of the White army, was arrested in the thirties. Anton Rival takes the lead in Andrey Smirnov’s Russian film of 2019.
