The Future of Work and Death

The documentary takes up two things. One is working and the other is dying. Both are counted as unavoidable parts of a human life. The film asks whether that is going to change. What would bring the change is technology. Automation is moving fast. So is artificial intelligence. In one possibility human labour is no longer needed. That counts as the utopia. In another possibility widespread unemployment arrives. That is the dystopia. On the side of death there is a similar argument. Scientists, engineers and academics speak. Each looks from their own field and the views collide. The eighty eight minute documentary carries the signatures of Sean Blacknell and Wayne Walsh, a German, American, British and Ugandan co-production finished in 2016.
