The Game of Truth

Four old friends come together one evening after many years. Three men and a woman; they have known each other since university. As the drinking goes on one of them proposes a game: a game of telling the truth. Lying in answer to a question is forbidden. What looks like entertainment at first quickly turns dangerous; everyone has something they have kept from the others, and past a certain point in the night there is no going back. The source is a stage play and the film does not hide it: one location, four people, a flow close to real time. Victor Shamirov directed. Gosha Kutsenko, Dmitriy Maryanov, Irina Apeksimova and Konstantin Yushkevich act in it; all four come from the theatre and the film rests on the acting. Ninety minutes. The mould is a familiar one, but how it works depends entirely on the dialogue, and in the end the story puts nobody in the right.
