What The Practice of Beauty Is About
The film is about a small Moscow theatre company on tour in the provinces. The actors drink, quarrel, make up, fall in love and argue about the state of Russian theatre and cinema. Getting on stage is only one part of the day; the real film happens on the bus, in hotel rooms and outside the stage door. The actors wrote the screenplay themselves, and the account carries a fine mockery of their own profession. It builds no great event and simply follows a group of people over a few days. Gosha Kutsenko appears in Victor Shamirov’s ninety three minute Russian film, completed in 2011.
