The Gleiwitz Case

The film is set at the start of the Second World War. The Nazi leadership is planning to invade Poland. For that a pretext is needed. A secret plan is prepared. Six men are picked from an SS training camp. The men are to be passed off as Poles. They are sent to a town called Gleiwitz. A raid is to be staged there. The raid will look as though it was made on Germany. Germany will then enter Poland under the name of a counter-attack. The film shows that operation step by step. The work is put together in the form of a docudrama. Hannjo Hasse and Herwart Grosse take the leads in Gerhard Klein’s East German film of 1961.
