The Good, The Bad, The Hungry

The documentary is about two competitors. One is Takeru Kobayashi and the other Joey Chestnut. Both made their names in competitive eating. The contest is Nathan’s hot dog eating competition at Coney Island. Kobayashi won it six times between 2001 and 2006. In 2007 Chestnut beat him. The records passed to Chestnut after that. A long rivalry ran between them. In 2010 Kobayashi was kept out of the contest over a dispute about his contract. He turned up at the event that year and was taken into custody. The documentary talks to both of them about the animosity and about those years. It was made for the ESPN documentary series and went out on 2 July 2019. George Shea also appears in the seventy seven minute film, an American production Nicole Lucas Haimes finished in 2019.
