What The Greatest Lie Ever Sold: George Floyd and the Rise of BLM Is About
Candace Owens directed and presents this documentary, which rests on two claims: that George Floyd's death was reported incompletely and wrongly in the media, and that no proper account was given of where the donations collected in the summer of 2020 went. The film proceeds through interviews and financial records. Owens's position is clear from the start; the film is a brief as much as an investigation. The documented position is this: Floyd's death was classified as a homicide by the medical examiner, the police officer was convicted of murder in a state court in 2021, and he separately pleaded guilty to a federal charge. On the donations, the criticism is partly documented; the foundation's purchase of a six million dollar house was confirmed, while a lawsuit alleging misuse of funds was dismissed. The argument continues.
