The Guv'nor

The documentary tells the life of Lenny McLean through the eyes of Jamie, his only son. McLean became known in the eighties through unlicensed boxing and was called the toughest man in Britain. The name Guv’nor stayed with him from those rings. His fight with Roy Shaw is one of the turning points of the account. In later years he moved into acting and was best remembered for Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels. Witnesses from that time speak in the film, Guy Ritchie and Jason Flemyng among them. The documentary tells both the man in the ring and the father at home. Having the son as narrator gives the story a personal side. Paul van Carter’s eighty five minute British documentary was completed in 2016.
