What The Inglorious Bastards Is About

A group of American soldiers being transported to a military prison escape when their convoy is hit, and while trying to reach Switzerland they end up inside a mission they never wanted. An Italian war picture that keeps to the rules of its genre: characters drawn coarsely, plenty of action, little moral debate. Enzo Castellari likes to extend his firefights in slow motion, the signature of the period. It carries none of the heroic language of American war films, since not one of these men volunteered.
