What The Last Blood Is About
The Interpol agent Lui Tai is assigned to protect a famous religious leader targeted for assassination by a Japanese armed group. The man is shot at the airport, and because of a rare blood type there is only one suitable donor available, with others needing the same blood; the film draws its tension from that competition rather than from the shooting. Wong Jing does it entirely his own way, keeping comedy and violence in the same shot. Alan Tam and Andy Lau lead, with Eric Tsang beside them. It is worth noting that the film was released in Britain as Hard Boiled 2, despite having nothing whatever to do with John Woo’s film.
