What The Likely Lads Is About
When the old neighbourhood comes down it takes the pub with it, and it is Bob, the one more attached to his habits, who is visibly wounded by the loss. Learning that Terry is getting semi-serious with a Finnish shop assistant, Thelma takes charge: first a dinner party, then that fixture of nineteen-seventies comedy, a caravan holiday. It goes about as well as anyone would guess. Dick Clement and Ian La Frenais, who had written both television series, wrote the film as well. Underneath the japes it is quietly admitting that a friendship is no longer standing where it used to.
