Eva is born with hypertrichosis, her whole body covered in fine fair hair. Her mother dies giving birth, and her father, a stationmaster, is so ashamed of her that he keeps her hidden in the apartment and will not let her out. The family's nanny argues that Eva has the right to live like any other child. The film runs from Eva's childhood into adulthood: school, staring, offers from circuses, and the effort to build a life of her own. A Norwegian production, adapted from Erik Fosnes Hansen's novel. Its best decision is refusing to present a different body as pitiable.
