Henry Koster's 1948 fantasy comedy follows Stephen Fitzgerald, a New York reporter who runs into a leprechaun while travelling in Ireland. Fitz earns the creature's friendship by refusing to take his pot of gold, and back in New York Horace turns up again in the shape of a valet. What follows is the story of a conscience trying to push a man both towards Nora and towards work he will not have to compromise for. Tyrone Power and Anne Baxter lead, but Cecil Kellaway takes the film as Horace, a performance that earned him an Academy Award nomination for best supporting actor.
