What The Magnificent Dope Is About
Dwight Dawson runs a success school and it is not succeeding at all. To get attention he stages a contest: he is looking for the biggest failure in America. Whoever he finds will take his course and provide the publicity. The contest is won by Tad Page. But Tad is content with his idle, untroubled life. What is more, he starts turning the other students round to his own view. To head that off, Dawson makes use of Tad’s attraction to Claire Harris. That Claire is in fact engaged to Dawson tangles the whole thing further. Henry Fonda, Lynn Bari and Don Ameche appear in Walter Lang’s eighty three minute American film, completed in 1942.
