What Sitting Pretty Is About
Tacey and Harry King are a suburban couple with three sons and an urgent need of a babysitter. Tacey puts an advertisement in the paper. It is answered by someone called Lynn Belvedere. When the door opens, Lynn Belvedere turns out to be a man. Not an ordinary man either: an eccentric who considers himself a genius, says exactly what he thinks, and claims to have left a great many careers and adventures behind him. Walter Lang directs, with Clifton Webb as Belvedere and Maureen O'Hara and Robert Young as the couple. Webb was nominated for an Academy Award for the part, and the character went on to carry two further films.
