The Man Who Was Too Free

Boris Nemtsov was a well known figure in Russian politics. He rose quickly in the nineteen nineties. For a time he was seen as the country’s next leader. In later years he moved into opposition. He was an outspoken critic of Vladimir Putin. He was killed in Moscow in February 2015. It happened on the Moskvoretsky Bridge. The documentary tells his life and, with it, the last twenty five years of Russia. The main voice in the film is Nemtsov’s own, assembled from radio and television interviews in the archive. Alongside it come the accounts of people who knew him. Vera Krichevskaya wrote the film with Mikhail Fishman. Shooting was spread over 2015 and 2016. Mikhail Khodorkovsky and Irina Khakamada speak in the hundred and twenty six minute film, a Russian production Vera Krichevskaya finished in 2017.
