The Mighty Macs

1971. Cathy Rush arrives as basketball coach at a small all-girls Catholic college outside Philadelphia. There is no gym, there are no uniforms, there is no budget, and the school itself is about to be sold. Rush starts working with the girls. The nuns running the place do not take it seriously, nor do the parents, nor at first do the players. That changes the more the team plays, and Immaculata goes to the first national women's college basketball championship. Tim Chambers directs; a hundred and two minutes, with Carla Gugino as Cathy Rush and Ellen Burstyn as the mother superior. It is based on the real story: Immaculata won the title in 1972, 1973 and 1974, three years running.
