What The Model and the Marriage Broker Is About
Mae Swasey makes her living as a marriage broker in New York and cannot keep herself out of her clients’ lives. When a good-looking optician, Matt Hornbeck, leaves his intended standing at the altar, Mae sees an opening and steers him towards Kitty Bennett, a model with a shop of her own. Matt has no interest in being tied down and falls in love anyway, and it all runs smoothly until the two of them find out what Mae actually does for a living. George Cukor directed, Charles Brackett produced and co-wrote with Richard L. Breen and Walter Reisch, and it opened in Los Angeles on 30 December 1951. Thelma Ritter, almost always a supporting player, carries this one.
