The Most Beautiful Couple

A young couple who both teach, Malte and Liv, are attacked during a holiday on the Mediterranean coast; Liv is raped. Two years later each of them is carrying it in their own way: Liv is close to finishing her therapy, Malte has chosen silence. Then Malte happens to see one of the attackers, and from that day on he starts following the man. Sven Taddicken's film takes as its subject not the trauma but the question that comes after it: where the line between justice and revenge sits. The telling neither justifies nor condemns what Malte does, and it does not interfere with the way Liv is healing either. Maximilian Brückner and Luise Heyer play the couple. The film screened at the Toronto Film Festival and won the main prize in the German competition at Hamburg.
