The Movie about Alekseev

Alekseyev, an old man, lives on his own. One day the radio calls: they want to make a programme with him about the old days. He starts talking about his youth. What he lived through in the Soviet Union of the sixties, the names he knew, and a recording he thought nothing of at the time all slowly come out. Mikhail Segal's film moves between the past and the present and shoots both with the same seriousness. The real subject is not the memories involving famous names; it is a man misremembering his own life and knowing nothing of the mark he left on other people. Aleksandr Zbruev plays the older Alekseyev. The result is a calm, sad and unexpectedly hopeful film.
