The Notorious Mr. Bout

The documentary is about Viktor Bout. Bout set up his business after the Soviet Union broke apart. He built a large network in aviation. He was a businessman who profited from the economy of war. Among what was carried were weapons. Because of that his name was in the news for years. In the end he was arrested and imprisoned. What makes the film unusual is where the footage comes from. Bout filmed himself over the years. He went about with a camera and recorded everything. The documentary rests on those home recordings. So the story is also told through his own eyes. Tony Gerber and Maxim Pozdorovkin directed the ninety four minute documentary. The American production was finished in 2014.
