The Odd-Job Men

Moha, a young Moroccan plumber, starts work on a one week trial contract. His superior Valero doubts both that he can do the job and that customers will accept a Moroccan worker. For six days the two of them work together in the homes and workplaces of Barcelona. The customers they meet are a subject of the account, and so are the two men themselves. The film does not make prejudice a topic of debate; it shows how it looks inside a day of work. Six days may not be enough to be rid of prejudice, but they are enough to see that we have to live together, and that is where the film arrives. The comic tone is not used to make the subject light. Valero Escolar, Mohamed Mellali and Pep Sarrà appear in Neus Ballús’s eighty five minute Spanish film, completed in 2021.
