What The Orheim Company Is About
Jarle Klepp is twenty four when a phone call wakes him: his father is dead. What he feels is not grief but anger and relief. The film goes back from there into an adolescence spent in Stavanger under an alcoholic father, and shows how love, fear and shame manage to live in one house at once. Arild Andresen adapted Tore Renberg's novel, closing the Jarle Klepp trilogy, and the film took best Nordic film at Gothenburg. Our record mentions neither the novel nor the trilogy, although the whole shape of the film comes straight out of them.
