What The Oslo Diaries Is About
At the start of the 1990s, with official contact between Israel and Palestine suspended, two Israeli academics and three members of the Palestine Liberation Organisation met secretly in Norway, the meeting disguised as an academic conference. The documentary tells the story of more than eleven hundred days of those secret talks in the words of the people who sat at the table, and it rests on two sources: the diaries the negotiators kept at the time and footage that had sat unused for years. Mor Loushy and Daniel Sivan directed the ninety four minute Canadian Israeli co-production together; it screened at the Sundance Film Festival in 2018 and was broadcast on HBO the same year, and it includes one of the last interviews Shimon Peres gave.
