What The Other Family Is About

Jean Paul and Chema have been together ten years; the work is going well, the house is comfortable, they have plenty of friends. That arrangement is upended when their friend Ivana pulls a boy called Hendrix out of the situation he is in and brings him to them. Hendrix's mother Nina is an addict living with a violent partner. The two men begin to think about making the boy part of their family. Gustavo Loza wrote and directed it, and by his own account struggled badly for funding, with the project turned down three times by the Mexican film institute. He said his aim was to open an argument. It is told in the language of mainstream melodrama.
