The Other Shore: The Diana Nyad Story

Diana Nyad is a long distance swimmer. At sixty she goes back into the water after a long gap. The goal in her mind has been the same for thirty years. She wants to swim from Cuba to Florida without stopping. The distance is more than a hundred and seventy kilometres. There are many dangers in that water. The current is very strong. There are sharks and venomous jellyfish. The documentary follows four attempts. In one of them an asthma attack comes on. In another the jellyfish stop her. Each time she prepares again. An abuse she went through in her past is part of the story too. The question of where the determination comes from stands over it all. Diana Nyad tells her own story in the ninety five minute documentary, an American production Timothy Wheeler finished in 2013.
