What The Other Woman Is About

Kouno is a respected university professor. He is married and has two children. The mother of those children is not his wife. She is the woman he has been with for many years. Her name is Miho. Miho runs a bar in the Ginza. The bar in fact belongs to Kouno. The arrangement has lasted close to twenty years. His wife Ayako has known from the start. She appears to have accepted it. One reason is the children. Another is that he comes home every evening. The children, though, are not hers. Miho is getting older and the step she waits for does not come. The film is about the balance among those three. Hideko Takamine, Chikage Awashima, Masayuki Mori and Tatsuya Nakadai appear in the hundred and six minute film, a Japanese production Mikio Naruse finished in 1961.
