What The Party Is About
In a maximum security prison the annual party is being prepared. Performers and strippers are due to go on stage. But not everyone is enjoying the night. One prisoner is sent to solitary. Outside, his wife breaks down. Another prisoner is getting ready for a daring escape. The film sets entertainment and confinement side by side inside the same night. The distance between the show and the order of the prison is the real subject. The hundred and three minutes are given to that single night. Charlotte Laurier and Julien Poulin take the leads, with Michel Forget and Angèle Coutu also in the cast. Pierre Falardeau’s Canadian film was completed in 1990.
