What The Pervert's Guide to Ideology Is About

Slavoj Žižek talks about film scenes while sitting inside rebuilt sets from those scenes: Travis Bickle's room, the Bates house, the deck of the Titanic. His argument is simple and uncomfortable: ideology is not a lie imposed on you from outside but something you enjoy and want. He works through They Live and its glasses, The Sound of Music, Jaws, The Dark Knight and more, piece by piece. Directed by Sophie Fiennes, following her 2006 guide to cinema. Long and dense.
