An inexperienced Canadian journalist travels to Somalia to write a story nobody else is covering and tries to talk to the pirates. The film does not make a hero of him: he is unprepared, thinks rather too much of himself and is entirely dependent on a local translator. Its best quality is treating piracy as an economic option rather than a moral failure, asking what is left once the fishing has gone. Based on a real book.
