What The Prayer Is About
Thomas is an addict and joins a community in the mountains to get clean. There is no treatment here and no medication, only rising before dawn, hard physical work and prayer. Cedric Kahn neither mocks the faith nor declares it a cure; he shows that this arrangement works for some people and not for others. The question underneath is what happens if recovery requires belief and you do not believe. Anthony Bajon, who plays Thomas, won the best actor prize at Berlin in 2018. Hanna Schygulla is in the cast.
