Wild Life

Philippe Fournier lives with his two sons; his wife won the divorce and custody was awarded to her. Philippe does not hand the children over. He takes them and goes. The years that follow pass in caravans, in tents, in houses with no electricity. Okyesa and Tsali grow up out in the open, unschooled and unregistered, while the police look for them. The father calls it freedom; the mother calls it abduction. Cédric Kahn's film is based on a real case, with Mathieu Kassovitz as Philippe and Céline Sallette as the mother. It does not take a side; it leaves the father's conviction and the mother's right standing at equal weight, and hands the decision to the children.
