What The Quiet One Is About
The documentary rests on the personal archive of Bill Wyman, for many years the bass player in a well known rock band. Over the years he kept the footage he shot on home cameras, together with photographs and notes, and the film brings that material into circulation for the first time. He is also the narrator and gives the events in his own words, from behind the stage. The portrait that comes out is not the view of the noise inside the band but of someone watching it from a distance; the member whose name was already the quiet one. For that reason the film is a work of personal archive as much as a history of music. Oliver Murray’s ninety seven minute documentary was completed in 2019.
