The Real Bros of Simi Valley: The Movie

Jimmy Tatro's 2024 American film is the feature version of a series released online. The tenth anniversary of high school graduation is approaching, and Xander and his friends look for a way to make themselves look better in front of their old classmates. The humour comes from none of them having moved on. The characters keep the language, clothes and priorities of ten years ago; the comedy turns around that stasis and goes somewhere sad at times. The narrative is in mockumentary form and keeps the manner of the series. The cast is largely made up of people known from the internet. The joke density is high and the references rest on a particular generation. Who it's for: those who watched the series and like mockumentary comedy. Who it's not for: viewers new to it; the characters arrive without introduction and some of the humour rests on the series' context.
