Zurich, 1519. Anna Reinhart, a young widow, leads a life caught between her fear of the church and her worry about the future of her three children. A young priest arriving in the city, Ulrich Zwingli, causes an upheaval with sermons against the failings of the church. At first Anna is frightened by these ideas, but when she sees that the man lives what he preaches rather than only preaching it, she changes her mind. Zwingli’s success soon becomes dangerous; his ideas come to the point of setting off a civil war, and a struggle for power begins inside the movement itself. Maximilian Simonischek plays the lead in Stefan Haupt’s hundred and twenty four minute Swiss film, completed in 2019.
