What The Ride Is About
John Buultjens is a real person. He grew up in a violent, racist household, and a racially charged incident as a boy put him in juvenile detention. What came next was the last thing anyone expected: he was fostered by an interracial couple, Eldridge and Marianna Buultjens, whose house contradicted everything he had been taught. That house eventually gave him a BMX bike and a life, and he later took their surname. Alex Ranarivelo directs, with Ludacris as Eldridge and Sasha Alexander as Marianna. The real John Buultjens appears in the film himself, playing a version of his own father.
