The Secret of Bacchus

Victor, a journalist, notices irregularities at a state farming enterprise. The further he looks, the more the trail leads to the man running the wine section. The man is known as Bachus and has a wide network of contacts behind him. That network manages to protect him for a long time. Victor does not let go, and works to bring the fraud into the open. The film tells this somewhere between crime story and comedy. It is one of the Romanian films of 1984 to take corruption as its subject. The hundred and twenty minutes are given to a single investigation. Emil Hossu and Maia Morgenstern take the leads, with Gheorghe Dinică also in the cast. Geo Saizescu’s Romanian film was completed in 1984.
