What The Seven Days Is About
The Ohaion family has lost one of its own, and following tradition they gather at the house of the deceased and stay there seven days. Forced under the same roof night and day, the brothers and sisters soon cannot bear one another; the respect the mourning calls for gives way to old grievances and quarrels. The atmosphere becomes steadily unbearable and things unsaid for years come out one by one. The film tells mourning not as a ceremony but as the stretch of time in which a family has to settle its own accounts. The war going on outside enters the house too, in the form of news. Ronit Elkabetz appears in the hundred and three minute Israeli film by Ronit Elkabetz and Shlomi Elkabetz, completed in 2008.
