What The Shark Is Still Working Is About
A documentary about Jaws that fans put together themselves over seven years. It is less about what the film did in 1975 than about what happened afterwards: the invention of the summer blockbuster, the way fear of sharks settled into the culture, what the shoot did to the identity of the island it was shot on. The narrator is Roy Scheider, Brody himself. Steven Spielberg, Richard Dreyfuss, John Williams, Peter Benchley, Carl Gottlieb and Joe Alves all speak, with later directors like Kevin Smith, Eli Roth and M. Night Shyamalan cut in between them. It is dedicated to Peter Benchley and builds on Laurent Bouzereau's 1995 making of documentary rather than repeating it.
