Jennifer Van Horn What The Short Game Is About
Every year a tournament is held at Pinehurst in North Carolina: a world championship of junior golf. The competitors are seven years old. The documentary follows eight of them, from the United States, France, China, the Philippines and South Africa. Some have been working with a coach since they were six, some with their father. The gap between how these children are on the course and how they are off it is the film's real subject, along with the question of how much of this the children chose. Josh Greenbaum directs; a hundred minutes, with Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel among the producers. It follows one tournament from start to finish, but what it shows is not the result: it is the families waiting for it.
