The Story of Plastic

The documentary follows plastic pollution from production through to waste. It was shot across three continents. The images take in fields full of rubbish, rivers choked with waste, and the surroundings of production and recycling plants. The film takes production and waste as parts of the same chain. Interviews with experts and campaigners carry that argument. Animations are used to make the chain legible. The work also records the movement growing up against it. The film’s language is openly partisan and it does not hide the fact. The ninety five minutes are spread across an entire chain of production. Deia Schlosberg’s American documentary was completed in 2019.
