The SuperVips

The line of Supermen is dying out. Two brothers are left: SuperVip, muscular, stupid and fond of display, and MiniVip, small, frail and unable to fly. MiniVip's only power is thinking. SuperVip is swept up by the advertising world, becomes the face of brands, and is then put to use in politics. MiniVip sets out to get him back. Following those two, the film lays out how advertising, consumption and power actually work. In the end it is not the muscular brother who saves anything but the one who thinks. Bruno Bozzetto directs; eighty minutes. He is among the best-known names in Italian animation, and this was his second feature. It looks like a children's film and its actual target is the consumer society of the sixties.
