What The Swamp Is About
The documentary follows three Republican congressmen in Washington: Matt Gaetz of Florida, Thomas Massie of Kentucky and Ken Buck of Colorado. All three count as rebels inside their own party and belong to the Freedom Caucus. The camera stays with them for a year. What emerges is this: what actually decides things in Congress is fundraising. How much money you raise determines the committee seats you get, and that holds for both parties. Daniel DiMauro and Morgan Pehme directed it together. The three congressmen stand behind the promise to drain the swamp, and the film also shows them inside the same system. Critics were divided about it.
