What The Terrorist Is About
Late 1943, Venice. A partisan group formed by the engineer Renato Braschi carries out one action after another against the German occupation, while the National Liberation Committee wants caution and a suspension of attacks. Renato does not step back, and puts his own life at risk. Gianfranco De Bosio directed and drew the story from his own experience: he had been in the resistance in Padua, in the unit of Otello Pighin, whose code name was Renato. The Renato of the film comes from that man. Gian Maria Volonté leads, with Philippe Leroy in the cast and a young Raffaella Carrà also appearing. It went to the Venice film festival in 1963 and took the Pasinetti award.
